Knockoff Keys: They're Just Not Worth It

I'm a little bit worn out but worth it and this is important stuff.
Some vehicles it really is OEM or bust. Nissan/Infiniti seems to be one of the harshest for this and unfortunately it can get expensive.
Today was an Infiniti Q50. Customer supplied their own fob purchased from Walmart.com. Clearly it was a Far-East knockoff and shockingly had pirated logos on it. The car was purchased at a dealer with only one key fob and in this case, it was an Autel universal. After programming, the Autel still worked but the Walmart fob only partially functioned. No trunk, panic, or remote start. Proximity and lock/unlock was all that functioned.
I was able to add an XHorse universal, which is a competing product to Autel, as a loaner until I get the right key fob for this vehicle. So, I guess aftermarket can work on a Nissan, but keep in mind these universals rarely have all the functions you want. They're OK in a pinch, but I don't like them as a long-term solution.
This is reality sometimes and why it's best to let someone like us handle it. This vehicle also had no emergency key, which is a safety hazard. I was able to decode the door lock and get that taken care of without even buying a key code. Again, this the effort you'll get here from us. The "Orange Vans" and various other scalpers and "Code Smiths" running around? Highly unlikely they'll be able to provide a cut key and this vehicle proved it.
